I'm seeing a little transmission oil getting out of the primary chain inspection cover. Not a lot, just a little . . . I'm changing the transmission oil soon anyway. Anybody else had this experience? Do I just need a new gasket on the cover (or better yet - a new cover!)? It's tight, and the gasket is not dry rotted.
I don't think there are o rings on the screws. Just locktite.
It's somehow getting out under the center of the cover, leaves a sludge trail (not a lot of fluid).Probably need a gasket cover . . .
Are you talking about the "Derby Cover", or the "Inspection Cover" (which is shown below)...
If you are talking about the primary chain inspection cover (as shown in the below picture), there is a thin solid rubber gasket that fits behind the cover and the 2 bolts holding it in place.
This solid gasket might be pinched and just needs to be repositioned, or if it is ripped or torn you will probably need to replace it... Easy job either way.
Yeah, I'm talking about the primary chain inspection cover (pictured). I just had it off and the gasket is not torn or dried out. Maybe it's twisted . . . I'll pull it again when I get home and make sure it's seated properly. I'm actually pretty surprised there is enough fluid getting up that high to leak out considering the over all fluid level.
It looks like another nice day to ride too! If I wasn't such a wimp in the morning I would have rode to work. But if you can see your breath and have frost on the car's sunroof, it's too cold!
