Try changing your oil to 20-50w. I put straight 50w in my 1200 and it grunted while starting when cold, 65 degrees, and took more choke for longer. Went back to 20-50w and noticed the whole startup went much easier and faster.
I use the enricher as little as possible. Try using the throttle tension screw to keep the RPMs a little higher so it doesn't stall while you're putting your gear on.
Ok, when I left work I gave the throttle two twists before pressing the start button. Kicked right on. So why isn't this in the owners manual?? I see under cold start they don't say anything about this. They do mention on a warm start to not use the enrichener and just open the throttle 1/4 of a twist.
So you guys fixed the starting issue though the bike still dies once in awhile while idling. Did it twice on the way home, sitting at a red light with clutch all the way in, engine just dies. Starts right back up no problem. Weird.
I have the stage 1 kit on mine and when it's cold, I usually have to hit the throttle a couple of times... The carb does have an accellerator pump that will put a shot of fuel in the carb to get it started.. just like pumping the gas pedal in your old car, it shoots a shot of gas in the carb and closes the choke.
I bought some seafoam. I'll be filling up my tank on the way home today and as soon as it's in the garage I'll add it to the tank.
Thanks guys!
No, add it to the tank right beforeyou fill up.....The fresh incoming gas willmix theSeafoam &gas up better...Plus it will start cleaningyour carb/jetson theride home.
