Forward controls on, mini-apes going on soon.
I had previously had mid controls and HD adjustable highway pegs. I took both of those off and put the new vivid black forwards on. They look nice and the ride is definitely more comfortable for my 6'2" frame. It will take a little getting used to it, but I think I will.
Next step is to put on my narrow glide mini-apes on. I am going to put them on tomorrow and measure out the needed cable lengths. Then order cables etc. I am debating on doing it myself or letting my buddy's friend (a local Indy) put them on. I may lean towards the Indy because I'd like to get the bars drilled and wired internally and I am not sure I feel like doing that. The other cables seem pretty easy enough (throttle and idle may be a bitch).
Forwards were easy to put on -- they just took time. You have to drop your front exhaust to get the mid-pegs off and the brake rod. Other than that, it was very straight forward.
For now I am going to keep the mid-pegs and highway pegs. Never know if I may want to go back to them. I may change my mind and eBay them or sell them here. Who knows?
Mind you I told her I just got finished detailed my bike. Thanks for letting me know! LOL Ain't her fault, but it would have been nice to know!
I had no clue, I thought it was clear all weekend.Oh well, I will mock up the bars tomorrow and re-detail it. I did spend time and put vasoline inside the head bolts of all bolts I suspect of rusting and across the heads of other ones. Works great. I have to stay in front of that rust demon! I had found the screws on those hose clamps or whatever those things are called that hold your heat shields to your pipes had rusted. So I changed those all out today and covered them with some vasoline too. Anywhere I see possibly rust, I pull out the bolt, replace it with stainless and put a coat of vasoline on it.
I ride in the rain, my bike gets soaked, spends a lot of time outdoors, so I have to stay ahead of it the best I can. Hell my temporary signature picture was taken on wet roads!
