well while helping my brother but a new clutch cabel on his 06 1200 r striped the threads out on the primary cover were the cable threads in to it at. i put one on my bike an didnt have any trouble at all with the threads.just woundering if anyone else has had this proablem an if it can be fixed or am i going to have to buy a new primary cover if so has anyone bought one an how much does it cost

Is it so stripped that you can't run a tap through it and try to correct it?

yea it pretty much stripped all the threads out i think im going ot go tomorrow an get a heil coil thread repair kit an see if i can fix it. hopfully that will fix the proablem

doesnt a helicoil kit work by drilling out the old threads, then tapping in new threads and it requires a bigger diameter bolt?

No you drill out the hole install the Helicoil and you are back where you started from only better but poorer.. Bob

**** man, not to armchair quarterback here but there is a point where you have to notice something is not right and STOP. i hope you can work some magic on that retap. you are looking at, at least $150+ for a new one.
