Has anyone on here ever replaced the riser on their 04 or later 1200 (or883) custom, and managed to retain the speedo? I'd like to install a set of apes, but I think they would look ridiculous with the OEM riser. I also want to be able to continue to pull DTC's from the speedo, thats why I don't want to change it.
Any thoughts from you clever folks out there would be appreciated.
I have the original with apes and really don't like it. I got creative and with a little cutting could flip the speedo and idiot lights upside down to install a tank lift. I never could find a set of straight risers that would work with the upside down speedo.
Good luck, let me know if you find anything that works.

Hey Georgia, I hope i didn't offend you about my opinion on the apes. I like what you have done with the struts on you scooter, it looks tuff.
Anyway you see what I mean abouth the riser? Apes look great on that bike, but it's just too much with the stock setup. I'm going to try a few things, and i'll keep you informed.
I love the stock risers, but the curve does not look the best with the apes. I would rather go with straight risers. I was wondering if I could flip the stock speedo case 180 degrees and put a new set of risers on reversed and make them work. Also no sure how the straight risers would work with the stock speedo. If you take the stock speedo riser off, there are 2 small screws. Remove them and the speedo will come out of the case. The trip reset rubber button screws off and you can remove it.
Do either of you have the part number of the bracket you are using. That would be very helpful to those of us with customs that want to change the riser and are baffled as to how to best keep the speedo on the riser... I'd really appreciate the part number or any info that might help me/us locate the bracket.
