Default Tires?

Hello All,
I just bought a 95 Sporty 1200 with only 6000 miles but she needs some new rubber. What is the best tire for handling, and performance for a sporty, being this is my first one?

Default RE: Tires?

I was just about to ask that same question myself. I'm on my second set of Dunlops and I'm not impressed with their life span. I just put on a new rear tire in August and it's nearly ready for replacement (early May). I'm specifically looking for Metzeler 880's and was looking for some info. In particular, I'd like to know what sizes I should look for in Metzelers for an '05 Sporty custom with the 21" front wheel. Also, is there a good competitively priced website I can visit? Thanks for any info.

I like Metz. In addition to the website that DPete listed, check with www.motorcycleproshop.com

I have ordered Metz tires from both of those places.

I'm not impressed with the Dunlops. I'm actually getting new tires put onthis comingMonday andam going with the Michelins. I've used them on my sport bikes and the handling was excellent. If the cruiser tires are half as good as the Pilot Powers it'll be agreat improvement.

I replaced mine right after I got the bike (with dunlops). The ones on it had weathered pretty bad. I have put 6000 on the new ones. They still have pretty good tread, but I have nothing to compare them to as far as traction, handling. I might try something else when these need to be replaced.

I agree with KSCRUISER. I made the switch from Dunlops to Michelin Commanders - and the more I ride them, the more I think they handle far more crisp than the DUnlops.

i got dunlop 401 and 402 rear,

before that they had original 20 year old tires, they were hard as a rock.

i didnt know stock tires were so soft, i can mold the rubber with my fingers warm and cold.

they have good traction, but they only have 4k on them and the tread is about halfway gone, i dont know if that is good or they are wearing too fast. but im not satisfied, I dont ride the crap out of my bike in turns, so i need longer lasting tires.
