Hey
I have a bad vibration between 50 and 60 mph. It is even worse when I am accelerating or going up hill. It seems to be coming from the engine but I am not positive. Any suggestions?
thanks
Lou
I dunno. If I'm only going 50 mph and want to accelerate, I'll usually kick it down into 4th. If I'm going uphill, the bike wants to do it in 4th at 50. 60's no problem though. Normal straight line steady riding at 50-60 in 5th I don't have much vibration, but I do have some. I usually downshift into 4th below 50 anyway. I'm just simply saying that on MY bike anything below 50 I'm in 4th gear. If the engine is lugging, there's gonna be vibration. And I'm not saying it's normal. It's just normal for me and my bike.
Like a couple others mentioned, without all the info (model/yr) it sounds like a 5spd 1200 running in 5th and lugging. My bike does not like to run in 5th under 65 or so, especially if there is any grade or headwind, sets up a vibration like you mentioned. - I look at it as a good reason to go 65+ or downshift into 4th. FWIW, this is contrary to the manual.
