Default Security Option...

Do any of you feel this is worth spending the $300+ bucks on? Just curious what your thoughts are. Did it save you any money on insurance?

I am more comfortable having the Security system and siren. I will prob get the pager too. I did not pay stealer price though, got mine from e-bay - about $160 for the two.

i also got minewhen i purchased my bike, and no it doesnt make your insurance any cheaper (at least not in Florida). I personally dont think it is worth the money, just seems like more of a hassle than a luxury

You need to think about your risk level. If you park it in a garage every night and never leave it in an unsecure area then you might not need it. If you don't want to go to the expense of an alarm you might want to consider a disk lock or a chain

I am in the alarm industry and can tell you that any alarm that only makes a local noise is worthless. The only thing it will do is scare away any kids who might mess with your bike, if you are concerned about theft a good quality disc lock is your best bet.

Can't hurt and I did save on insurance. My new bike came with standard alarm (lights flashing and ignition disabled) and I added a siren myself for under 6 bucks from radio shack. Siren is only about 1 inch square by 1/2 inch and is actually smaller than the harley one.

My bike came with it already installed. I probably wouldn't have installed it later. But I had a bike stolen many years ago and I have used chains and disc locks on my bikes since then. And try to watch where I park.

The peace of mind may be worth the cost.
