I have read alot here about upgrading the 883 to a 1200, what is involved in that, is it worth it and does the power match the 1200. The main reason for the question is cost, I have found in our area the 1200L is about 2500 bucksmore than the 883L. Have read in the past the upgrade is cheaper than purchasing the 1200.
883 heads have smaller valves. This is a plus for bottom end in the 1200 conversion, because at low to mid-range the smaller valves move intake and exhaust at higher velocities, and so more torque. Top end suffers though. Since I seldom wind out, and really like low to mid thrust, to me the conversion is a plus.
If you want to convert and have great top end, put a set of Buell Thunderstorm heads on it, or so I've read.
