Default Long time listener,first time caller

Hello from the NW burbs of Chicago. I want to thank everyone for the help on the type of shocks to get (Progressive 412 12" HD) and giving me the courage to re-jet the carb. I know I'm a little behind, but now taxes are paid. When cash gets better, I'm thinking about Andrews cams (N2) Sounds like a better choice for street use than the SE. Any thoughts or feedback is apprecitated. Also most talk about ignition modules seem to be for 2004 or later, what are the choices for a 2002 1200C? I have SE2 slip ons andSE hi flow AC. First post so I hope thiscomes out right. Will post pix as soon as I figure it out

there are a lot of choices with cams. If you are going to move in that direction you might want to get the book "How to build a Harley Davidson Torque Monster" by Bill Rook. He goes into the logical progression to achieve more power while wasting as little money as possible in the process.

What I got from reading that book was that head work before new cams is the route to take. Then get the cams to benifit the heads and only after all that think about going with a high performance carb.

A Harley dealer mechanic friend of mine has modified and dyno tuned many of the newer Sportsters, and he recommended the Screamin' Eagle "E" cams for best overall street performance.

The SE "E" cams are considered to be a "high torque" grind, and have a duration of 249 and lift of .551. I believe the Andrew N's have a duration of 244 and lift of .440.

They are a direct 'bolt in' for the 2004+ Sportsters, and we installed them on my 2005 1200C. The performance increase throuighout the entire RPM range is very noticeable.

Below is a little audio/video of my 1200C at idle with the SE "E" cams installed. Used an old Sony digital camera, so the sound quality isn't that great, but it will give you a better idea of how the bike sounds, and how it looks with all the modifications.

Here is a quote about the SE "E" cams;

"The new SE "E" grind is a terrific high-torque grind, relatively narrow with high lift and exceptional valvetrain dynamics. Note that this grind is a bolt-in for 2004 models but in 2003 and earlier models, better springs are required. Also note that it has a .050 smaller base circle than the 2003 and earlier grinds, consider this when calculating ideal pushrod length. This is the same cam grind (but not the same set of cams) that comes in new Buell XB models."
