Glad she's okay....and glad your wife is okay too !
Yup, been there. Never laid it down, never lost control in gravel, never hit a car, the only accident I had was when a car hit me (ouch)... but I've been stopped and dropped the damn thing 3 times. Still can't figure out why... Come to a stop, put feet down, drop bike, scratch head wondering what the Hell just happened. Now I treat every stop like I just stopped on a block of ice. I learned the hard way, everyone does sooner or later.
Lesson #287, stay to the inside of on/off ramps, when a dump truck/trash truck/etc dumps a trail of hydraulic on the road it usually slings to the out side of the turn. Went up an on-ramp to interstate one afternoon, forgot this lesson and while I was kicking in the speed up power(I was on the out side of the ramp) I caught into a hydraulic oil slick about 2 feet wide. Needless to say back wheel went one way, front went the other and me and bike did a side grind across 3 lanes of interstate. Trucks, cars and busses all missed me some how.
