Default Plug wire arcing

I have a 2003 883r.I was out riding today and the bike started backfiring and sputtering.I got it home and pulled in the garage. It was dark in there&nbsp\\; and I look at the motor and the plug wire for the rear cylinder is arcing. It is doing this right at the coil. From the rubber boot to the top of the motor.Do i need new wires?Or coil?Any help would be great

I'd be tempted to replace both if that happened to me.&nbsp\\; Or, replace the wires first to see if that solves it (the cheapest way).&nbsp\\; If it still does it, replace the coil.&nbsp\\; If still doing it, drop back 10 and punt.&nbsp\\; Of course this is just my uneducated, non-mechanic opinion.&nbsp\\; Hopefully someone will come along that actually knows what they are talking about.

What chefe said.... you may have a bad wire, but if there is a crack in the coil case, you will need to replace the coil.

+1, replace the coil wire first, then if it still arcs, replace the coil.
