I sheared off the spring mount on my kickstand bracket when \\;I hit a pothole. The whole street was \\;flooded so I couldn't avoid it. I was wondering if anybody had problem and what they did to fix it. I ride a 2007 1200 custom \\;this bracket looks like it is the lowest part of the frame. \\;
same thing happened to me except it was a speed bump i had a buddy weld a bolt on the frame where the previous pin broke off hooked the spring back on works great looks kinda cool to me too dumb they made it apart of the frame and not something "replacable" so to speak but ive had it that way for at least 1000 miles still works great.....hope that helps
I have scraped a couple of times going out of the driveway, looked under the bike with a mirror and flashlight can't see any scrape marks, but your post regarding the jiffy stand stud got me to take another look, mines OK.
I ripped my spring off the other day. And when I took it to the dealer they told me that if I would have sheard off the stud that they would have called it a total! Cause it is part of the frame. Harley will not warranty any welding to the frame. So \\;the only thing you can do is get someone to weld you up a stud. \\;
I guess I SORTA understand Harley not wanting the legal liability of welding on the frame, but JEEZ, totalling a bike rather than just tacking a stud back on? \\; More proof that lawyers are ruining this country!
The extended warranty does not cover any frame parts. My Jiffy stand is Fu**ked up and when the rear exhaust bracket broke I tried to get both fixed, no go.
I jerked my kickstand spring off while pulling onto a motorcycle dolly. The dealer thought I might have broke the clip the spring goes into off.
The service manager told me HD had a special tool to put one on the frame and that they would have to get the tool but he would cover it under warranty. Not sure about your local dealer but I would check with them to see if they will do this as a freebie.
