Congratulations! I was, like you, very nervous about riding it to work. I live in the burbs but work in Downtown St. Louis. The ride there was a piece of cake and maybe even a little boring. The ride back was great. I couldn't keep the smile off my face and I kept thinking that I was goofing off or some how cheating the man and not working. How could work be this much fun?

I rode the V-Rod to work for the first time two weeks ago from Mission Viejo to Cypress on the 405.&nbsp\\; The car pool lane took 20 minutes off of the commute.&nbsp\\; I really didn't think I'd split lanes, but there was a guy who let me "draft" him on the way home, it was tense, but the ride was great.&nbsp\\; Good luck.&nbsp\\; Being nervous is probably a good thing if it keeps you alert.&nbsp\\; Hey, at least we've to the cell phone law in effect and nobody's on their cell phones any more...(yeah, right...)

The first commute in to work on my Sportster went well.&nbsp\\; I split lanes a little on the 405 just because traffic was so bad for a while.&nbsp\\; Traffic is even more frustrating on a motorcycle.&nbsp\\; I learned real fast&nbsp\\;the importance of a good&nbsp\\;head check for other bikes splitting lanes before I pull out to split lanes.&nbsp\\; There wasn't a close call or anything, but when I was first contemplating splitting lanes a BMW silently whipped by.&nbsp\\;
&nbsp\\;
The only hitch this mornig is that my office key is not on my motorcycle key chain.&nbsp\\;

Glad to hear you made it in.&nbsp\\; it is always a good idea to look over your shoulder before splitting to make sure no one is there.&nbsp\\; You MUST get a copy of the office key for your mc key chain. &nbsp\\;

I sometimes ride my '05 Sporty 1200R to work from Seal Beach to Monterey Park\\; up the 605 North&nbsp\\;to the 60 West - that's an interchange - mostly on Fridays 'cause the office is casual Friday. The 605 has a car pool lane which is great for bikes but watch out for illegal in/outs over the double-yellow. Try to partner up with another bike going the same direction to stake out a place. Drivers can see two bikes better than one and tend to give them more room. The 60 has no car pool lane and lane-splitting can be dicey. I rode behind a LEO once,&nbsp\\;but that guy rode much more aggressively than I do and was soon gone. Follow the advice given here, and good luck. Enjoy the ride!

So, did you have to go back home&nbsp\\; for the ofc. key? What a great excuse to ride more, lol.

Unfortunately the guy in the office next to mine is the company architect and has a master key.&nbsp\\;
