Congratulations! I was, like you, very nervous about riding it to work. I live in the burbs but work in Downtown St. Louis. The ride there was a piece of cake and maybe even a little boring. The ride back was great. I couldn't keep the smile off my face and I kept thinking that I was goofing off or some how cheating the man and not working. How could work be this much fun?
I rode the V-Rod to work for the first time two weeks ago from Mission Viejo to Cypress on the 405. \\; The car pool lane took 20 minutes off of the commute. \\; I really didn't think I'd split lanes, but there was a guy who let me "draft" him on the way home, it was tense, but the ride was great. \\; Good luck. \\; Being nervous is probably a good thing if it keeps you alert. \\; Hey, at least we've to the cell phone law in effect and nobody's on their cell phones any more...(yeah, right...)

I recall your post. \\; Hey, how come nobody's offering to give ME a ride based on my picture????
The first commute in to work on my Sportster went well. \\; I split lanes a little on the 405 just because traffic was so bad for a while. \\; Traffic is even more frustrating on a motorcycle. \\; I learned real fast \\;the importance of a good \\;head check for other bikes splitting lanes before I pull out to split lanes. \\; There wasn't a close call or anything, but when I was first contemplating splitting lanes a BMW silently whipped by. \\;
 \\;
The only hitch this mornig is that my office key is not on my motorcycle key chain. \\;
Glad to hear you made it in. \\; it is always a good idea to look over your shoulder before splitting to make sure no one is there. \\; You MUST get a copy of the office key for your mc key chain.  \\;
I sometimes ride my '05 Sporty 1200R to work from Seal Beach to Monterey Park\\; up the 605 North \\;to the 60 West - that's an interchange - mostly on Fridays 'cause the office is casual Friday. The 605 has a car pool lane which is great for bikes but watch out for illegal in/outs over the double-yellow. Try to partner up with another bike going the same direction to stake out a place. Drivers can see two bikes better than one and tend to give them more room. The 60 has no car pool lane and lane-splitting can be dicey. I rode behind a LEO once, \\;but that guy rode much more aggressively than I do and was soon gone. Follow the advice given here, and good luck. Enjoy the ride!

So, did you have to go back home \\; for the ofc. key? What a great excuse to ride more, lol.
