 \\;Thinking of taking a 07 1200n on a 2000 mile trip 75 MPH or so 400 miles a day in 100 degree heat \\;any mechanical issues other
than my #@#
On a nice new bike like that I would hope not! Just bring a small tool bag full of duct tape and a credit card... you should be alright! Have a great time!
400 miles isn't really that far...400 miles per DAY, day after day is! The heat will get ya too. If your skin is prone to burning take a long sleeve shirt and some summer-weight textile gloves. The sun will beat you down as well as the drum of the road. Plenty of stops, plenty of rest...continued......
.....I've read up a bit on Iron Butt Association website and they have some great advice.
One of them is it might actually be faster to ride slower! What that means is, if you go 70 mph instead of 75-80, your fuel consumption will be less, meaning you don't have to stop to refuel as much. Your fatigue will also be less, meaning you don't NEED to stop as much. Generally, I stop every couple of hours anyway, regardless of speed. Bike will handle it, so you need to take care of YOU.

My wife just completed a 3000 mile trip on her 1200L. 18 days, typically 250 miles a day with a few days off for sight seeing. No problems with the bike, except she lost a bolt off the exhaust.
