Default Engine Guard XL 1200C

How hard is it to put a engine guard on XL 1200C. Dealer says half hour labor charge at $38.00. Does it come with all the mounting bolts or does it bolt to bolts thats already on the bike.

I assume it's the same as a 1200N so... really easy. The HD kit comes with bolts. I'd suggest getting a torque wrench (and blue loc tite!) cuz the upper bolts replace the ones for the upper motor mount. Your call though... takes about 10 or 15 minutes...

It's not too bad to install. The bolts on the upper motor mount are kinda hard to get a socket in. Mine where really cranked on tight. Depends how mechanically inclined you are. $38 is not a bad price.

Super easy to install. Only hard part is holding them in place while threading the bolt. The bar is heavy.

I put one on my 883 in the dealer's parking lot. Took about 15 min.

If you have some tools, I would say go for it yourself. I put one on the wife's 883L and it was a straight operation. With the custom models it will be even easier as you don't have to mess with the horn.

Just cover the front fender with towel so you don't scratch it. When I removed one of the upper bolts it was striped I used the same bolt in the same hole and torqued it to spec no probelms bolt stays tight if it diden't I would of tapped it.

Thanks all, lots of good advice here. Now I just have to wait till the end of the month to get it, must be a big run on engine guards out there.
