Default Speedometer/Tachometer

I have searched the forums and other places and have been unable to locate what I am looking for. I have a 2005 1200 Custom and want to replace my speedometer with a speedometer/tachometer combination, but do not like the way the HD unit works. I would like one similar to the one below where the tachometer is inside the speedometer, smaller, and advances in the same direction. I would also like it to have a trip meter as my current speedometer does not have one. If anyone knows if such a unit exists, I would appreciate pointing me in the right direction.

Thanks

You are right, yours doesn't have ONE, but it does have TWO of them. RTFM

Wheeldawg,

I have an '05 1200C and like cHarley said if the speedometer is original, it has 2 trip odometers. 1 odometer for total mileage and a trip odometer "A" and a trip odometer "B". The button that switches between the odometers or resets them is located on the back of the speedometer (opposite end from the gauge face). It is a little rubber button that you push inward.
Hope this helps.

On my 2008 1200XL I wanted a tach. There is a tach kit for the sporties. The bracket between the fork and bars needs to be different. Took the roadster bracket, with some additional bolts. Keep in mind the standard speedo and the new tach should be either chrome ring & black or chrome.

Thanks for the replys. I don't know why I did not consult the manual before for the trip meter. I guess I was thinking old school, where there is a seperate set of numbers, so just assumed it did not have one. I will check into the tach kit.

i don't know if you want to go this route, but i got a digital tach that splices in to your speedometer harness. its only three wires. its pretty small and you can mount it about anywhere with some double sided tape. i got it at www.speedwayinstruments.com. i might be stupid for paying that much but i didn't like the big tach. just my 2 cents

Thanks for the link Patrick. I just bought one of the small speedway instruments tachs, it's just what I've been looking for.

I've just been looking at one of those, advertised in a UK Custom car magazine.

It appears to be made by Autometer, says it on the dial. check out their website, as I guess they'll have one.
