I have an 05 Custom (not the Low) and I put on pullbacks using all the stock cables. You just have to be a little patient during the actual install b/c there's not a lot of play, but once everything is seated in place it works fine.
How many miles have you ridden with the pullback bars? Do you have to have the bars at a certain angle? My wife would like to try those bars but does not want the expense of all new cables.

About 8,000 miles. I had the same attitude as your wife. My dealership quoted me about $600 to do the re-cabling (would have taken me a loooong time, I'm all thumbs in the garage) and I couldn't justify the expense. I don't think I have them at any special angle; I may have adjusted them a wee bit at first, but they look like they're at a normal angle to me. (Sorry, no digital camera, no good pics.) The only thing I didn't like about them at first was that they seemed to be wider than the stock bars--that is, my hands seemed to be farther apart. I don't think I actually ever measured, so I don't know if it's true or not, but every now and then I do consider sawing an inch off either end so as to quit thinking about it. But with a windshield I'm perfectly comfortable riding 200-300 mile days with them.
I recently purchased an 02 1200 Custom Sporster and since I'm not a big guy, I need to replace the stock "drag" bars with the pull back bars - can anyone provide me with some good advice/suggestions??

With the drag bars I couldn't ride 50 miles. I am only 5'4" and felt like I was leaning forward to reach the bars. We put the pull back bars on and the HD reach seat which pulls you closer to the bars. I rode from Indy to NC about 450 miles with no problem with the pull back bars & new seat. They made a huge difference for me.
