Alrighty first off i was riding last night and my coil shorted out and lost the rear cylinder spark.. it ran for a short time.. then died... and would not start..
I got a new coil pack today.. and put it in.. then tried to start it.. and i go no response at all.. battery is charged... there is a little red key that came on on the speedo.. my guess is that it locked me out.. HOW DO I FIX THIS!! PLEASE HELP!!!
This is my only way to work.. and i'm SOL if i dont get it going
lol the lil red key is for security systems i believe. do you have one? perhaps the remotes battery died so its not getting a signal from key fob. thats all that lil red key means im pretty sure. did you check the plugs to see if they are fouled out? did you buy the bike useD?
yes i bought it used... but it was a demo.. with only 391miles on it.. but no i do not have any alarms or anything like that on there... i turn the key and hit the start and have no response...
nothing when pushing start does sound like a security system thing. the key should flash when armed, not stay steady. i don't have my manual in front of me but there is a way to reset the security system. something similar to cycling the key 3 times and then hitting the left turn signal or something like that. sorry i'm not more help but it sounds to me like a security system lock out.
does your bike have a key fob with it? if it is the fob with the button i think hitting the button twice (quickly) will enable the starter again (turn off the security system). If it's not the type with a push button fob then you need to go through the other sequence.
oh, and i think the reset procedure is on/off/on/off/on left turn signal. Somebody here must have their manual in front of them. sorry i'm doing this from memory.
