I don't see how the ECM can detect that the PCIII is there. You worry too much.

All the PC III does is intercept the fuel value coming from the stock computer and add or subtract fuel from there then lets it continue along its intended route and I have never heard of something in a vehicle that can sense that has something other than stock attached to it. And if it did it would probably only count how many times the plug was removed and reinstalled and you can come up with a simple excuss for that.

I don't worry to much, I just not familiar with it and want to know everything about it so I don't F my bike up. But thanks for the help guys, i think you have answered all my questions. I think I found a new project for myself this winter.
I think I am going with the PCIII, Vance and Hines Shortshots and the Screamin Eagle 90 degree air filter.

I set up an appointment today for my 1000 mile service, and the tec. said something about the PCIII cooling the bike down. I asked him if that would void the warranty of the bike. He told me that MOST Harley Davidson dealers would let it go. I know I was worried about it, so I thought I would Share that info with everyone else.

I've got the Nighterrider "O2 IED" adapters on my '08 1200.
It does help the bike run a little richer - I have much better roll-on power and the engine does seem to run cooler.

I would recommend the "O2 IED" wires... these ones seems to be the best bet.
No engine codes thrown and only ~$75.
Well worth the money in my opinion.

From what I've read the "XiED" ones make a drastic change in the air\fuel ration and may or may not work well with your stock O2 sensors - which have a limited operating air\fuel band.
So some people have seen come codes thrown due to this.
They also sell wide band O2 sensors to solve this issue... but that's some serious money now.

just to let ya know that a lot of ecm's,pcm's,etc. store evidence to let a tech know if there is a piggyback,alt fueler/enricher,or chip linked to it at one time or another...but i only know car computers,not Harley ones,so ours may be different.

The Power Commander III rocks! Best thing for the buck for a little fine tuning...throw it on a dyno and dial it in...

Since no one else has asked - By what manner did you determine your bike is running too hot?

I'm thinking, perhaps, if you believed changing your air intake would make the bike run cooler, you might be equally as accurate in your analysis of the engine running too hot.
