Exclamation Air Filter Suggestions

I have a new '08 1200 Custom that is running hotter than what i would like. I was looking into getting a new air filter kit to help it cool down. I have been looking at the Screamin Eagle 90 degree air filter, but i am worried about 2 things. 1. Rain and other harmful things passing through the air filter and entering the motor, 2. Any type of oil spewing out of the filter on to the motor and other components. Haven't read/heard people complain about these two things, so I wasn't sure if people have experienced these problems. Am I being crazy or should I really take them into consideration??
Any other ideas to cool my bike down are welcome.......
Thanks for the help!!

I'm not sure if a high flow air cleaner alone will cause the bike to run cooler, but others will comment on that I'm sure. As for your concerns, it comes with a rain sock to protect it from the elements. I leave mine on at all times. It's black so it matches my bike anyway. I have never noticed oil spewing out of the air filter.

Changing your air filter will not cool your engine down. It may make it run hotter. The reason is the engines lean fuel condition. Adding a high performance air cleaner with only make the engine even more lean. You will need to add a fuel management system. The Power Commander III is an excellent fuel management system and with a change in exhaust and air filter, you will see a big improvement in performance and a cooler running engine.

Is the Power Commander III hard to use?? Is it something that I should purchase and take to someone that has experience; or is it pretty self explanatory?? I feel like you could screw some major things up with it. I'm not to sure how it works besides plugging into my bike and computer.
This is new for me...

Very easy to use... When you order it and I would suggest talking with Jamie at Fuelmoto, he will put in a map based on your bike and what you have modified. Install and you will be most happy. However, if you wish to make changes you can hook it up to a PC laptop and using the supplied software you can make you very own maps. You will always be able to go back to the map supplied when you bought it.

I would assume that the Power Commander III would void some type of warranty. I am affraid to make moves to void the warranty on my bike....
Would this be your first move to cooling/modifying your bike??

Just keep the stock ECM and if something goes wrong throw it back in and take it to the dealership. I did that with mine. I was throwing all kinda codes with my Twin Tec ICM so I put the stock ICM back in and took it to the dealership. Turned out my tach was bad!?!?! Yeah it would probably void your warranty. But it's better than frying your motor because you are too lean.

With the PCIII, you don't remove the stock ECM. You just plug the PC3 into it, so if you have a concern just unplug it before you get it looked at.

Does the computer on the bike store information of things being plugged or unplugged into it??
Also, has anyone heard of or tried XiED harnesses??

I have a forcewinder 90 deg. intake on mine. I rode for three days in the pouring rain at Johnstown this year...didn't even have a cover on it, and had no problems. That being said..my tech told me it is killing my horsepower. It looks cool I guess, but won't help with cooling or horsepower in my opinion.
