Hey guys, Having an issue that just started with my bike after a top speed run. Every time I lay it down hard in a corner it feels like the front tire is rolling over. Don't know if its a broken belt in the tire, seized wheel bearing, out of balance wheel, or maybe a neck bearing issue. Any ideas before I start taking the whole front end apart?
First thing I would do is make sure the tires are o.k. if it's not the tires then you will need to have the front of the bike looked over. Make sure it's not the rear of the bike making this problem too...
sorry, if you have already done this, but I always check the most obvious first...check the tire pressure? the recent weather changes here in Pa left my tires 10lbs under inflated last week and I was having the same problem that you described...
Check tire pressure, then check the spokes if it's a laced wheel. Don't forget to check the rear too. Also in the rear, check the swingarm, not likely the problem though.
I hear ya man! I put brand new tires and put 1000 miles a week on my bike, but I ride hard in straight lines and turns. my tires wear evenly.
I took my first long trip on these new tires, about 500 miles in a straight line almost 70mph the entire trip, and when i got back into my city riding groove, my bike feels unbalanced in curves and in swerving...
i spent a lot of time looking at my wheel bearings and alignment and axle tightness and then i found out my tire just has a flat spot worn in the middle....
i know this is the problem because my friend rode my ducati (which also has brand new tires) for the entire trip with me and its doing the SAME thing in the corners.
it sucks becuase now i have to live with it until they wear all the way to buy new tires. but that flat spot is what you get when you put the sport compound unstead of the touring long life compound tires on.
after a high speed run obviously the tires will be worn. if they are near the end of their life, just replace them now and get it over with.
