when you replace the mid controls, was the forward control install hard? I mean did you have to mess with the brake reservoir? or was just taking off the exhaust the tough part? thanks in advance....Jerry
I wouldn't ride with anything but forward controls, and my legs are about 33". In fact, I'm toying with the idea of extending them. And the body position doesn't effect my ability to handle the twisties, either. Go for it. If you really don't like it, sell the parts on ebay and you haven't lost out too much.

it will some - it's very hard to get off the bike with forwards for that extra lean, but i'm still considering getting them.
I went from mids to forwards on my Sporty and couldn't be happier. I found a used set on e-Bay for less than $150 with shipping. I would never go back to mids, too cramped.

Yeah............ I must admit that there are lots of great deals on eBay for pre-'04 sportsters. It seems that everything I need at a good price is for stuff up to 2003. It makes me kinda jealous.
After taking a close look at my setup I think I would have to remove my engine guard otherwise the forwards would hit. plus i have my highway pegs mounted to my guard
I had the forward controls put on, now feel more "in" the bike, instead of perched on top of it. But had to change back from my mustang solo to my stock seat because it was painful on the inner thighs, now I need a new seat. Careful going cheap with the conrols, some are rattly. Mine were over $500 and they're great.

I'm not so sure about that, I don't have forwards but after looking around at some online I thought that they would clear with an engine guard. Its the highway pegs you have mounted to the guard that might need to be adjusted.
Maybe somebody can post some up close pics of there set up with forwards.
5'7" 29" inseam 160#. Stock mid-control, highway pegs (HD version mounted @ forward-control), engine guard and Mean City Cycle modified Solo Reach seat.
On highway, it's really comfortable with my feet on front mounted pegs, but mid gives me an alternate place to rest my feet on long trips. Sometimes on the highway, I rest my heels on the mid foot pegs with my toes pointing to the sides instead of forward. And sometimes I even rest one foot on forward peg, and another foot on mid. So you can say I have 7 ways to rest my feet on long trips.
Been considering forward control for awhile, but hate to give up the mids just because of this.
