I bought a Sundowner for my 1200C yesterday as me & the Mrs will be doing a few hundred miles this weekend. HATED IT! The seat was not only waaaaaay too stiff but made me feel like I was riding a mini bike...ON TOP of the bike rather then just on the bike.
I returned the seat immediately.
It was literally the most uncomfortable motorcycle seat I have ever sat on.
Any good seats that do NOT raise ride height and have a decent pillion for the 'ol lady?
Your link doesn't work, and I don't think you gave the Sundowner a fair chance. The Sundowner's not for you, I guess. However, the extra seat height is one of the main reasons I DON'T have a Sundowner or Mustang. (my short legs need all the lowering the bike can stand). I use a Reach two up seat and Progressive 11" shocks.
I know of a few who have C&C seats, and have actually seen one on a softail; from what I can gather, those who have them really love them. In fact, they are on my short list of seats I'd get if I was in the market. If my 1200 Low didn't already have forwards put on by the dealer, I'd have a C&C seat instead of a Reach. They can even build it to your specifications if you'd like. Even color match design stitching to your paint.
I've never had a passenger on the Reach, but I imagine it's just fine for the task. It's certainly better than the stock seat.
As long as he didn't dooky on it I would take it back. If it doesn't look used why not? I have a sundowner as my two-up and I find it ok but it WILL make you ride high as a giraffes ***.
i'd stay away from the overpriced plastic panned harley seats entirely.
c&c is good. I'd also look at Lepera, mustang and corbin. I had a lepera barebones on my sportster and friekin loved it. The barebones is not what you're looking for, but my buddy got the maverick (i think that's what it's called). It's a very comfy two up seat and he loves it. I will definately get a lepera for my softail at some point.

Any brand new seat takes time to break in, give it a little and see what's going on. I have never seen one rider complained about Sundowner or Mustang.
I knew the foam would have to break in but the ride height WAS Giraffe Like!!!
Way too high for me as I like to be IN the bike, not completely on top of it.
I might just check out a CC!!
