I've been thinking about buying some V&H slip ons and fuel pak for my XL1200C. Could I trust buying these items off from e-bay new, or am i taking a chance in getting defects. Has anyone on here bought these items off from e-bay, or should I go to my stealer.
Just get paypal verified, everything you pay for through paypal is much safer, because you can file a claim against the seller if he doesnt send your items. Look for a good feedback rating too!
I've bought lots of things on ebay, just look at the rating/feedback for the seller. I personally don't go with anything less than 98% with at least 100+ positive sales history. You can get some good deals if u're careful. Never buy from somebody without any history, from my experience that bites you in the ***!
I haven't been bitten yet.... I usually flinch every time I hit the button. But like was said above, check out the seller's policies on returns and most of all the rep of the seller.
i have bought hundreds of items on ebay.. in fact - i bought my v&h fuel pak, and my v&h straightshot hs slipons on ebay.. both from american classic motors - who doesnt really have that great of rating..
a few things you have to know and understand about ebay
dont expect a great return policy - it is a auction - allsales are final.. check and double check part #'s so you can be sure of what you are bidding on.
read every word of the auction and terms before bidding/buying
always pay with paypal, so that if the seller plain doesnt send the item - they will refund your money.
the users feedback percentage gives a good indication of if they are a scammer or not, not only check the percentage, but also read some of the feedback.. it will give you a good idea on the honesty of the seller - but also realize that no one can make everyone happy, so as long as the percentage is high - i dont sweat it..
in my opinion - there should be no reason to return a auctioned item provided it arrives in one piece.. pay for insurance when there is a option...
good luck

I"ve bought a bunch of stuff including pipes and seat from american classic motors, never had any probs thankfully but always breath a sigh of relief when the stuff turns up on the door and its as described.
I've got nearly 200 transactions on eBay with no problems except a bad description of an item on one that really wasn't a big deal because I was powder coating it anyway.
