To be honest, you don't want a HD kit. You definitely do not want the SE heads. You can find kits from NHRS and Zippers. Or if you really want HD, get HD 1200 jugs and then buy the Thunderstorm Heads and Pistons. Add cams, pipes, and ignition and you'll have a great running bike. Back on topic though, do not use the SE heads.

They are milled heads. The Thunderstorm heads are Buell heads and are superior to the stock 1200 heads for models up to 04. In 04, HD started using XB heads, which are very good heads. For <04 models, I think the Thunderstorm set up is the best buy for the money. These things come off the shelf virtually ready to go. All you have to do is machine the breather holes to work with the standard Sportster stuff. I replaced my stock 1200 heads and pistons with the TS stuff and couldn't be happier. As I recommend above, I added SE .551 cams, a Samson 2-1 pipe, and the SE ignition and with that setup, I got over 92HP-not bad for a Sportster. I had the heads highlighted so they would match the Custom motor and I also paid to have all the work done and I still only paid like $2500. If you're doing your own work, your cost will be far less. In the end though, take it somewhere to get it dyno tuned.
