Default Shock Length

I have a 05 1200 Custom and want to get rid of the so called "shocks".
I am looking at the Progressive 412's. I want to stay with the same height
on the bike but can't seem to find out what length the stock shocks are.

Any one know what it is???

Also how hard is it to put them on myself. Any suggestings or hints on making it easier. (other then having my local stealer do it)

11.75" eye-to-eye for '05 Customs.
Either 11.5" or 12" Progressives...
(I went lower with 11")...

EDIT (how I mounted them):

Top Mount (in order): bolt, OE washer, OE chrome cover, top shock eye, Progressive spacer insert facing inward, Progressive zinc washer, Progressive fat spacer, all twisted into the bike's top mounting point.

Bottom Mount (in order): bolt, OE washer, Progressive spacer insert facing outward, bottom shock eye, Progressive zinc washer, Progressive fat spacer, bike's mounting point, OE nut.

Your spacing may vary (just need to find a combination that results in your shocks being vertically straight). It's pretty easy, actually. And the Progressive kit comes with decent instructions and the spacers you'll likely need.

Good luck!

You can also get away with 12.5 inches if you want without changing the lines of the bike too much. The 12.5's will give you quite a bit more travel.
