Im New to the site and need help!!! I just picked up my 2nd harley and entered a loudest bike contest. I have a 2005 sportster 1200 custom w/ stock headers and screaming eagle 2 mufflers. Baffles removed. I hit 112 decibles. I know thats loud but i want louder. First place had 116, 2nd 114, 3rd 113. Any ideas or anything to help get a few extra decibles??? I was thinking headers but i dont think that will change anything.
Thanks,
Josh
the diameter of the hole at the very very end of the pipe helps. try adding extentions for a smaller one and a bigger one, i work on a lot of smaller engine bikes and the bigger the hole the louder and deeper, but once in awhile ill see an oddball bike where a smaller hole makes it louder. weird.
the engine is much louder under load than free revving it. you might get a louder decibel reading by doing a hard run in a high gear. but if thats not allowed than try getting a set of really skinny drag pipes. on every harley that had them that ive seen, the skinnier ones were the loudest
