Default Nightster Mini Apes ??

I've been kicking around the idea of getting some HD mini apes for my nightster. Got a price from the local dealer, which included all the new cables that are needed. Got expensive quick w/ labor. I'm struggling with just how much of a difference they'll make. I think i've read the stock bars have 6" of rise and the mini apes have 12".

Just wondering what some of you that have them think.

Do it yourself. Buy a longer brake cable from an indy. Mini apes work for me. My stealer wanted 400 minimum and more to hide the cables

Just get the bars you want and do it yourself as it could not be easier and it should only cost you $300-350 depending upon cables (braided or vinyl), dealer and indy costs are $700-1000. I did bars by khromewerks (OEM for bob and wideglide), risers, different speedo mount, cables, ext. my wires and ran internal, new grips all done in my garage for $325 (of course that was 2yrs. ago and prices change). Also keep in mind that the HD bars like mine may say 12" but that measurement is from the bottom of the bar to the top most bend, the actual grip end hgt. is only 8". I'm pretty happy with mine on 3" straight risers but 14" would be better.

I have the mini apes on mine, except I have them pulled back like buckhorn bars, they are very comfortable, easy to handle on the back roads also,no lower back pain wrists do not go numb.Glad they were on there when I bought the bike, probably would not have put them on,the whole turn your body into a sail to look cool doesn't do it for me anymore.Didn't like these untill I pulled them down, fits just right now.
