Default Speedometer Question

Will an 08 1200c speedometer fit in an 08 1200L housing?(son is doing an ape install and would like to use the whole 1200L set up) I ask because it looks to be the same diameter but looking externally at the housing of each, the 1200c housing is deeper than the 1200L. I'm wondering if the speedos are the same depth and the 1200C just has added housing depth for appearance or something.

The second most important add on you can ever buy for your sportster from the harley
davidson dealer, right after the factory service manual, is the parts manual !!!!

You can get them both for less than $100 and they'll pay for themselves in just a couple
months time. Nothing else you can ever buy from them has as much value !!

I don't have and never will need an '08 manual, but historically they have always been
the same. They're different between 883 and 1200 because of the different drive
sprocket gearing which comes after the sensor.. but they're the same physical size for
all models any given year.

Thanks Gazza. Thanks Ratrod. He's putting on 16" narrow glide apes. Looks like he'll be using the 1200L Speedo housing and riser set up. Gonna have it powder coated black as he is using black apes and powder coating his fork lowers black as well. We'll be off to Harley tomorrow to get part numbers unless you might know what he needs. ? I guess at minimum it is the housing which is built into the riser top clamp, riser boltss, speedo bezel, O-ring or vibration gasket, riser bottoms and the 5 (or 6) hole top cover plastic piece that the leds come up into. I'll probably order fromChicago Harley to save some $ and time.
