It's more important to ride than what you ride.
# 365 of 750.

Yes, the last 6 digits of the VIN will indicate the production number. An example would be my Yamaha which was #200 to hit the states with #000200. When I lived in California I knew the guy with #000054. If they only build 750 units it may run 000000 through 000750.

Depends on the perspective and what the rider chooses to do with the bike. I don't see the XR1200 being used for touring the US. Yes, it has 1.4 RWHP more than my R model out of the crate, which is a joke when you consider the Buell Ulysses, an adventurer bike with the same basic engine has roughly 12 more RWHP than either of them and this too is out of the crate. I can also tell you the shocks on the XR1200 are no where near as capable as the shocks on the back of my R model. The XR1200 is quite different than my R model or for that matter any other Sportster but when we consider what it is designed to do, I find it coming up short in that it fails to mimic anything other than itself. This is fine if it competes with itself but those riders that are truly looking for an upright ride with outright performance will likely still be inline for the likes of the FZ1 for far less money. There are however those that will buy it for what it is, a Harley and this is cool too however, in the greater scheme of things the XR1200 won't run with the V-Rod, the other Harley hotrod.

The XR1200 looks great but considering the R&D consultants experience that helped Harley develop the bike I still can't figure out why they allowed the bike to weigh in at anything over 500 pounds or drop off the roller with less than 100RWHP.

My XR has an 11/08 build date and the last six VIN digits are 424646. If you watch the XR promo "production line" video up on Harley's website, that XR's vin is 450493. So I'm not thinking the VIN numbers are sequential.

Deff. a cool bike for sure and id prolly buy one if i was in the right posistion to....but i agree with alot of you....it should weigh less and have more power out the box....

i spent $130 for my PCIII (used local purchase) $100 for my cycle shack slip on's with Baffles (ebay slighty used like new) .... $145 for my forcewinder intake and $125 for my custom dyno tune and came out with the numbers in my sig. I didnt even have my cams or headwork done yet but for the little cash i spent im right there with the XR already
