Default Auxillary power, help

I want to install auxillary power on a '93 Sportster for gps and air pump etc... Can anybody help me figure out where to cut into the power so that the auxillary only works when the key is turned on. Thanks, Mart...Pic's would be a real bonus.

I'm not familiar with that year, but I think there's an extra fuse in your fuse block. Find it (read your manual) then trace the wire (read your manual) and tap into it (read your manual). I HIGHLY suggest you use this ignition controlled power source to control a relay that powers a second fuseblock. Then, run wires to your GPS, driving lights, air pump, etc.

On a side note, I believe most people prefer to have one cigarette lighter plug (with a tiny fuse) that is always on, so you can run the GPS without the bike being on for things like route planning and better trip monitoring. You may or may not want to do this, though.

There is another thread in the General Forum about using the battery tender pig tail as auxillary power. I don't know how to put the link in here but the thread was started today and sounds like a pretty simple way to get aux power.

'93's do not have a power block, they have the old style box fuses. I would suggest wiring in a relay. You could use a jumper off one of your lights and get power directly from the battery. Here's a article on wiring a relay.
