Drilled the baffles out on an '07 Nightster. No backfires, no decel popping, and sounds like an XR750 flat tracker.

The closed loop EFI on '07-up motors will compensate for exhaust changes. Install a better breathing intake with freer-flowing exhaust, and a remap will be needed.

.......so if the EFI compensates for exhaust changes then a re-map is not need, if only changing out the exhaust?

you don't need a re-map because the fuel pak (adjusted correctly) tells the EFI computer to use the right air/fuel ratio with your bike's sets up. If you remove the fuel pack, the EFI computer will go back to using whatever settings it had before, weather it be the stock or Stage 1 re-map settings.

This is why I want one. I can pay once for an EFI module (fuel pak in this case) vs. a $150 a pop for re-mapping every time I change a part. I want to do all my upgrades in stages over the next few years. I can't stand it when my dad has a louder, faster '02 Softail! Getting a bigger bike would be the cowards way out and not as fun.

Yep, at least on an '07 & up. Now, that might not hold true if you install a set of 25 inch long "Look-at-Me" pipes, but the typical (practical) pipe change should be handled by the closed loop EFI. That said, a re-map will pull some more power, but it isn't necessary (as in needed for engine protection).
