Mid floorboards AND forward controls?

I have stock forward controls on my XL883C, but I want to add floorboards where the mid mounted pegs would have been. I already changed the passenger pegs over to floorboards, and my daughters say they are much more comfortable than the old pegs. Now I want boards too!

I was thinking about using the brackets and footpeg hardware from the standard Sportster, and fab up a sleeve of some sort to fill the space where the shifter/brake pedals would be.

Has anybody here done this? I wanted to make sure I wasn't wasting my time & money before I start down a dead-end path.

Any guidance and parts suggestions will be appreciated.

I have thought about going floor boards too,but I think there would be too much vibration to be comfortable for long.Just went with a five inch long cushioned peg instead on my forwards,that really helped

I have an '05 1200C and the forward controls were too far forward to be comfortable for me (I am 5'7"). I installed a set of mini (adjustable) floorboards (8" long and 4 or5" wide)and they are much more comfortable. I installed them with the front edge about as far forward as the original pegs and the back edge almost back as far as mid mounts. Lets me stretch out when I want or ride in a more agressive position. Got them for $75 from 2orangeharleys.com.

Thanks for that link. Those mini floorboards are exactly what I was looking for and had not yet found for my Nightster. My size 13s could use a little more real estate than even the wide HD foot peg. I think they'll look and feel great with my forward controls.

I made a heel/toe shifter for a bro's scoot, I don't see why you can't do what you want. It will take some modding but you'll have a "one of a kind", at least for a little while.

Thanks Shoat! I hadn't seen that one.

The J&P universal boards I have for the passenger were originally going to go up front, but I couldn't get my toe under the shifter.

That bracket on the 2orangearleys' part looks like it will solve that + give me another inch or two to stretch. I'm 6'-01", and I sometimes resort to hanging my ankles on the stock forward pegs to stretch my legs out and relax my calf muscle a little.

I think I'll still put mid floorboards on the Sporty. Another position for cruise, and a splash of chrome when folded up over that gray powder coated case. I can also stand on mid's when crossing the unavoidable pot holes, so the shock doesn't go straight up my spine.

I stll am looking for the black cast brackets that the mid pegs or boards mount onto. Found a pair on E-Bay, but they looked pretty scraped up (take-offs from a wrecked bike

Glad to be able to help guys. You can raise your shift peg by adjusting the shifting rod (loosen the lock nuts and screw the ends of the rod out). I adjusted my shifter to about a 45º angle to get my toe under it without pointing my foot down. I plan to post photos showing the mini-floorboards and new Drag Specialties Low Profile Wide seat if we ever get a break in the clouds.
