Hey all ive got a 1993 sportster and fill it up around 85 miles after filling the tank . The bike has a factory small tank on it. What is the expected miloeage out of a tank before filling up . On the safe side , dont wanna push it anywhere?[sm=americanasmiley.gif][sm=americanasmiley.gif]

I dunno what size tank you have, but on my 2000 XL1200C it is a 3.3 gallon tank. I usally don't have to flip to reserve untill about 115 miles. The reserve on mine is 1/2 gallon. But I figure that I get around 43 MPG so, I think I can get another 20 miles to find a gas station.

The 93 had a 2.25 gallon tank so 85 miles to fill is about right. At 45 MPG you're walking at 101 miles.
The newer ,96 and up, bikes have a 3.3 gallon tank and that's why these other guys are going so far.

my bike is a 96 and it has the 2.25 gal tank If i hit 90mi on the ODO and get to a gas staition i feel lucky.So i would think that if you want to be on the safe side , you are already there. most of my miles have been constant 45-55mph not much in town stop and go My bike will have 97 and no reserve But on intown cruising im useally out of gas at 87mi on ODO.the bike is new to me and have made a few slight changes to it but i think gas milage is same
