The Stage 1 kit was also installed on mine when I picked it up so I could not tell you if it did make a difference. You would think that it would I am liking it for what ever it accomplished.

I'm not looking for an exact quote here, but what are the rough numbers for a good dyno tuning? Are we talking hundreds of dollars or into the thousand dollar range?

You should expect to pay a few hundred dollars (probably $300 - $350) for a good dyno tune.

There are a few factors that can change this though....If you go with a set-up similar to one the tech has tuned before (e.g. V&H short shots, SE filter)... The tech will probably have an existing map on the computer... He can use this map to do an initial download to the ECM that will be a time/money saver.

If your set-up is completely unique (as mine was at the time) you might pay more...

You also may have the option of doing just a download... Which will get you close.... But not optimum... The full tune is worth it IMO.

Well it helps alot but your dealer didn't do you any favors with those pipes and a cheezy remap. You would have gotten more performance from a good set of slip on's and a SERT with some dyno time.

I did the same thing with my RK, wife bought it for as a suprise and I had to make a split second decision on the exhaust system, I choose the RINE HART true duals and then found out they where crap and changed to a D&D Fat Cat but thank god I had bought a SERT and all you have to do is have it retuned.
By the way D&D makes some very nice slip on's.

I'd say you have a great set-up. I had the V&H SS & stag 1 on mine when I bought it - Couldn't be happier.

People that say V&H pipes work great haven't used other pipes (there 2-1 pipes work great), I made that same mistake when I bought my first Sportster years ago' I bought what everyone thought was cool but then my old Hot Rodding experiance kick in and I got rid of those pipes with no real mufflers in them my performance did genuinely increase and they sound better.
S&S builts the best sound mufflers for sound and performance and you can modify your stock head pipes at least a couple of differant was to get them to perform.

i like the way they sound... it was for me and I don't have a garage so why not let the dealership do it... that's why I went with them
