Thanks Bacon for the info. The steering technique is very similar to the way they taught us in the MSF safety course and the way I ride. I usually scrap the pipe on turn that have uneven turf or a isn't graded correctly and especially when I'm 2 up in the mountains.
I think I will be replacing the shocks. That seems to be my best option.
Thanks
Bill
If you REALLY want a set of shocks that will put the Sport back in Sportster..... check out the suspension I'm running.
A little background - I did A LOT of research into this, including riding Sporties with every suspension set up I could find. My last Sporty had the 412 that folks seem to like. And, unfortunately, I felt that all of these weren't going to be adequate for what I do and what I am planning to do with my Sporty.
I contacted a gentleman that does things with Sportsters than most people can imagine - namely riding an '04 XL1200R to 3rd place in the 2007 Iron Butt Rally. At his recommendation, I threw a set of Progressive 413 heavy duty springs on the bike.
Let's just say they're very effective. And by effective, I mean KICK ***!!!
Plus, they're dirt cheap. I think they were around $250 or so.
