wondering if any of you have had any issues scraping the exhaust crossover pipe? Have the 1" shorter premium hand adjustable shocks on the wife's bike (2102 Ultra) and she definitely has scraped it a number of times.
I've tried rotating it to gain more clearance but it didn't help. Asked my local dealer but they said they've never heard of anyone with this problem...
Anybody out there run into this? Is there a solution besides a true dual or 2 into 1 setup? Appreciate any input...
You definitely have a clearance problem which no doubt started with the 1" lower shocks you installed.Bet if you put the stock shocks back on the problem is resolved. You didn't say if you had the adjustable installed shocks adjusted up and still had the problem.
I don't believe that the shocks are the problem since they are the same length as street glide shocks. I'm sure I could alleviate the issue by putting taller shocks on it but that's not the solution I am looking for. Thanks anyhow.
this is surprising- have you looked or felt to see what is actually contacting?
stock header?
I had a pal with V&H power duals- the crossover clamp was installed incorrectly so that the excess threaded rod caught a speed bump and about pulled the exhaust off the bike.
Don't drive over speed bumps at a 90 degree angle. Other than that, I see no way that a stock crossover pipe would scrape, even given that you have lowered the bike an inch.
Maybe one or both of her shocks are faulty or misadjusted. Lots to check and measure to determine the cause.
Without a photo we are just guessing.
Without a accurate description of what is hitting and when and where, we cannot even guess.
I believe you have a problem, but even with wild guessing I doubt given the information you provided that we can help you.
