Default O2 sensor question

What kind of problems can A bad O2 sensors cause??? Will it make a bike Back fire?? It was warm today so i installed my Arlen Ness Big Sucker and my PCIII and the Bike poped and snaped more than it did before i put it on. The guys at fuelmoto said it would correct that problem. The bike ran like a scalded dog but when i would change gears or decel i would start with the poping. I was just wondering it the O2 sensors might be the problem Before i make any changes to the mapping. At an idle it sounded like a different bike. i love the sound but i don't like all the poping!

Just read something in American Iron about the popping. Seems it's caused by too much fuel being sent to the motor during 0 throttle. They said adjusting your 0 throttle setting on a PCIII would help. Take it for what it is as I have no personal experience with it.

My indy tried leaning it out on the dyno and it only made the popping worse. With my set up, Heavy Breather and Short Shots I went up to as high as 25 before it would stop popping in the middle rpm's and I am at 10 to 15 every where else. I am not sure what pipes or slip ons you are running so your results may very I would just start out with 10 from 1000 to 5500 rpm and if that doesn't help, bump it up to 15. If you have a tach you can narrow down your popping and just adjust those areas affected. But, your best bet is to have it dyno tuned where the tech can clean up the map in all cells.

If you installed a PCIII the 02 sensors should have been eliminated with the eliminators supplied in the kit. As far as decell poping in ehaust check to make sure you have no exhaust leaks at the head which would also cause this problem. I have done several maps and used a decell fuel cut map by putting -99 in the 0 percent throttle from 6500 down to 2000 rpm
