i know im goint to get did you switch to reserve. and yes i did. this sputter is more than an empty tank. the bike bike starts to sputter like im out of fuel then gets a big kick of fuel and shoots off. it has a stage one on it but the problem just showed up today. and i worked fine last weekend. so does anyone know what is wrong with it? its an 02 1200c
It could be numerous things....But I'd take a stab at saying that a wire connection is working loose. I'd check the battery wire connections, all four, and I'd check the little 90* elbow connections on the coil. The 90* connections may seem to be on tight, but some times they need a little squeeze to tighten the connection before sliding on. I actually had an issue where it seemed like it was sputtering too and even left me baffled sitting on the side of the road...Couple minutes later, it would fire right up and go for a while with no issue....I finally figured it out while riding down the road with it sputtering as I started giggling wires, so I pulled over took the 90* off, gave it a good squeeze and re-connected, and there's been no issue since.

I had a simular problem just about pulled my hair out I would fill up she ran great about half tank run like $hit. Took it to the stealer ? They found a cracked fuel line in side the tank they say it's common. I say recall.

The 90 degree wire connectors made my ride sputter.I changed the coil, plugs, plug wires, and finally the Ignition Module. It turned out to be the 10 cent wire connections to the coil.
mine was doing that the first 3 months i had it. it was a combination of a bad spark plug connection, wrong type of plugs (they fouled too soon) my carb jetting was off, and that my battery terminal was loose.
I would say inspect EVERYTHING becuase obviously that problem can have multiple causes at once.
