I WAS RIDING MY 03 FATBOY WHICH HAS A 95INCH BIG BORE KIT IN IT WITH A HARLEY DOWNLOAD IN THE ECM AND BIG SUCKER AIR CLEANER. I ONLY HAD THE BIKE A FEW WEEKS AND PUT A COUPLE HUNDRED MILES ON IT. I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY AND HIT A BIG BUMP AND FELT THE ENGINE CUT OUT FOR A SECOND IT WAS SO QUICK I WAS SECOND GUESSING IT HAPPENDED THINKING MY HAND JUMPED. THE NEXT MORNING I WAS RIDING TO A 9/11 CHARITY RIDE AND HIT A BUMP THE ENGINE CUT OUT QUICK AND KEPT RUNNING THEN I WAS TAKING OFF PRETTY FAST AND THE ENGINE JUST SHUT OFF. I WAS IN A PRETTY BAD POSITION WITH JERSEY BARRIERS AND NO WHERE TO GO I PUT ON MY 4 WAYS AND TURNED OFF THE IGNITION SWITCH AND ON AGAIN THEN RESTARTED IT. I GOT IT RUNNING AND GOT OFF THE ROAD. I WENT HOME AND EVERY BUMP I HIT IT WOULD CUT OUT. I CHECKED CONNECTIONS I COULD SEE THEN BROUGHT IT TO HD AND THEY REPL THE FUEL CHECK VALVE AND FUEL LINE FOR THE FUEL INJ WELL THEY SAID IT STILL DOES IT NOW THERE LOOKING AT ALL THE FUES RELAYS ETC... ANYONE EVER HAVE THIS PROBLEM ALSO MY TIRES WERE KIND OF LOW ON AIR AFTER I FILLED THEM UP TO 40PSIs THIS STARTED HAPPENING. MAYBE I SHOULD TAKE 20PSIs OUT OF THE TIRES AGAIN LOL AH WTF IF YOU CANT LAUGH ABOUT IT WHAT CAN YOU DO. ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED

On the '03 to '05 softails the 5 volt reference wire in the wiring harness ran next to the negative battery connection and DID NOT HAVE the plastic loom carrier protecting it. So as you ride the negative would rub up against the harness creating a sudden grounding issue. You may not see a break but if you release the zip ties, feel each wire that goes close to the neg.
Found this after three days of tearing the whole harness apart. Good luck
I brought it to the dealer and they replaced the fuel hose and check valve in the tank. It is still cutting out over bumps they said it runs better but still cuts out. I think its sounds like a misdiagnosis but maybe there was a pin hole starting anyway so Im not gonna bitch yet. I will let you guys know what they tell me. I heard about the ignition switch but not about the 5 volt reference wire next to the battery.
It runs ok no major issues with it. I would probably get better performance with a tuner but for now I just want to get it running. I hear good and bad about different tuners also.
I called the dealer today they said they disconnected the alarm and took it for a ride and it didnt stall. They brought it back in and hooked the alarm up and it started stalling again over bumps. So I guess the harness or alarm is screwing it up. I will find out on thursday.
Mine was the System Relay on my 2006 Fuel Injected Heritage Softail. System Relay is $5.00, located on the fuse block (under the seat on my bike) and simply plugs in.
Since it's $5.00, I plan on carrying a spare, for me or a friend. Simple fix to see if it settles your problem.
