I have seriously considered trading my Sporty for a Dyna.
But with the economy the way it is, and the fact that I want to pay the difference in cash, all I can afford is a bone stock Superglide. I think my 1200 Roadster looks much better, and I have yet to really test my endurance on the Sporty.
that top picture in your post looks like the Dragon ?
Yep the dragon during Fontana Dam Fall bike week. The event was kinda boring, but the Dragon was some fun, a prefect ride for the Sportster. I ran it 3 times with the old lady.
Old lady is 98 pounds and 4'10" so she fits nicely on the back of the Sportster. I love the ride of the Sportster more, and I am much happier with the look I have now after all the customizing more than the Dyna. Dealer offer me $6200 and that is will about 24,000 miles on my Sportster, they were really wanting a sale. I could have gotten better I think if I was serious and interested in hard bargaining, but just looking at the Sportster after looking at the Dyna and my mind was made up.

You guy's look cool on your Sportster. I've loved the Sportster since I was just a kid. Maby cause Evel wellied & jumped stuff on one. When I bought my 07 1200c, I could of got any type H-D on the floor. I rode my Sportster eighty miles home in thirty degree, January conditions. Trust me... I won't forget that day. In closing, I'm not taking the bait for H-D's trade up offer, I love my Sportster. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VLqGYIiaY8E
Most of the few buddies I ride with brag that the new Dynas are now just as fast as Sportsters and just as nimble in the twisties. But when I rode one, they seemed more sluggish (maybe not sluggish, just not as quick) on the curves and didn't seem to have anywhere near the pep of my 1200c. Is it just my biased brain thinking my bike is faster from the start and can carve curves much better?
I was at the dealer on Tuesday getting some bits for an oil change and looked around at all the new bikes and they are all beautiful, but I didn't really get any urge to trade my Roadster for any of them, it just works perfect for me.
I would say that if the XR1200 had of been around when I bought mine I'd be a XR owner today though, it was the first time I had seen it in person and it is pretty impressive.
I had a problem letting go of my Sportster so I added to it. I've got about $6000 or so of mods into the Sportster between wheels, engine work and all kinds of chrome. No way was I going to give that away! And I didn't want to be bothered dismantling it all to sell parts on eBay and having to pay those ridiculous eBay fees. So now it makes a great decoration in my garage...lol...Its become my "show" bike that everybody ooogles over :-)
Custom paint is next on the list, just not sure when.....
