I am looking at a Harley off base, and depending on if the loan goes through, I'll prolly get it.
But anywho, the bike comes with the stock intake, and what I believe is a Screamin' Eagle intake. It's the one that looks like the stock one, oval and all, but it's black and says Screamin' Eagle on it. IDK what all internally is done, but I'm sure it's Stage 1.
Anywho, I understand this is a good intake, but I like the look of the Heavy Breather. Would that just be a simple swap, or is there tuning involved?
You didn't mention the year of the bike. But if it has the "Ham Can" cover screamin Eagle air cleaner, I don't think the Heavy Breather will work. As I recall, one is for a carb bike and the other for EFI. It could just be that the screamin eagle plate was put on the original cover. Easy way to tell is to look at the back. The stock air cleaner cover will be sealed with a black air scoop on the bottom facing forward. Screamin Eagle air cleaner will be open in the back, and the air scoop is gone.
What year? They make the SE ham can style that sounds like is on the bike. If it has that on it, the bike should also have a change to fuel system. If it does, be in a controller for EFI or jets for the carb, I believe you could swap over to the Heavy Breather setup.
Off topic but is this a bike owned by an American they bought in the States? Do some research if not! Sometimes you can't bring "foreign" bike into the States and, even in Hawaii, some loan companies won't let you take it off island without pay off! Better to get one from military sales available on-base; you can get 25% off a 2010, too, a 2008-9shipped there!
