Default paint bubbles

Is there anyway to fix bubbles in paint without repainting? I have bubbles around the gas caps on the 97 sportest I just got. chinist

Fix.? No

Repair? Yes.

You might could repair it and then cover it with the chrome or black strip like on the Custom. Or something else of your own creation.

If the paint is blistering (lifting) just around the fuel filler, You can hide some or all of it.

If the bubbling is close enough to the filler hole you can cut it away, sand that new edge smooth and seal it with something like clear nail polish (which would probably be enamel). After that, you could get one of those trim rings (or a complete new fuel cap/ring setup) to hide the disaster, but I'm not sure how wide the lip is on those - or how much it would hide.

But if you don't get the bad (fuel soaked) paint and primer off, it will continue to do damage.

That's your best bet. Run-overs and the occaisional "left in the pump" crap that comes out will kill your paint over time. Along with the rhino liner, another good idea is to keep a rag or something on you so you can cover the spout until you get it right over the opening, so that anything that might come out before or after you fill up doesn't end up ruining your clear. I started doing this and it's actually prevented MANY spills at the pump.

I'm shocked the grammar and spelling department aren't all over you. Good luck and welcome.

I sanded the old paint and painted with rhino paint. Gas doesnt even phase that paint. I made it look like bug eyes and call the bike my grasshopper, but this winter I am going to have the tank and fenders powdercoated, my friend can do it free where he works. I cant decide what color it has to be black, silver or gray.

+1 for having a rag at the pump to prevent spilling gas on the tank, it seems like there is always some gas left in there and without the rag it will usually drip out onto my bike.
