Default Rear lowering kits

I am wanting to lower my Nightster to get that dropped look. I have talked to the stealership about getting these kits, and they said they dont recommend them for everyday riding. I also read in my JP Cycles book that they "are for show use only". I dont see why these wouldnt be fine unless you were aim for huge pot holes. Has anyone else had experience with these kits?

this was just on another thread recently and i thought this was a great idea........why don't you have some struts welded on from the fender to the frame (near the axle) and have them powdercoated? this way you can keep the stock suspension or upgrade to some progressives or something and still have the slammed look.

I have the 11" 412s which are the same length as stock. Difference is that they're softer than stock so when you sit on the bike, they sag alot. On the lowest setting, if I sit on the bike, it bottoms out and the fender and tire only have about 1/2" separation. Looks great, but not practical for everyday, so I have it on the 3rd setting and still has alot of sag.

Honestly, its your bike, but with the 11" Progressive standard 412s, I can barely lean the freakin thing. On the twisties, I have to slow down because I can't lean the bike as much as I would like

The nightster is low already. The reason why some of these websites might say that its not made for the nightster is because any lower, you'll be scraping the sh*t out of the bike. Other than that, they'll fit the bike.

Good luck bro

i have the 11" 412's too but they're the heavy duty version. i have them on the 2nd setting and never bottom out. they're super plush and HUGE improvement over stock but they won't drop the bike any.

Default struts

I have recently discarded my struts and went to 11" progressive, i loved the feel of the struts until i got a a nail through my rear tire a couple weeks ago. I made it to a near by indy and was chatting with some guy there about the struts. He mentioned that he has used em for years but is constantly replacing swing arm bushings, He explained how the rubber bushing takes all the pounding. The theory made sense to me so the next day the shocks were on. I would rather ride instead of work on my bike during our short riding season.

Wouldn't use em, to be honest. I had 1.5" lowering blocks on mine for a bit...they were a pain in the ***.
