Needed a new project. I didn't want bags but I wanted the ability to take a bag of tools or lunch to work. I bought the Harley Solo Rack for the Nightster. I love this rack.
The rack is about $180 but I've seen them go a bit cheaper on ebay. The docking hardware was $40. Be sure if you don't have luggage bags that you get the appropriate docking kit. I left with the wrong kit and had to go back for the right one.
What a quick and easy install. Took about 5 minutes to attach the hardware and then slip on the rack. The best feature about this rack is it comes off in a few seconds with the quick release tabs at the rear of the bike.
Sorry, I didn't save the packaging but it is the gauge to a 2002 Sportster. When the guy at the parts counter looked it up, the diagram showed a dual gauge setup and the single setup. All my parts went into the housing perfectly.
I've been look'n at that rack... (chrome) one. When I ride my bike to work I take a backpack, with lunch & shower stuff. My work ride is 80 miles round trip. My backpack thus far has been working out ok but sometimes I don't feel like wearing it. I really like the quick release option, that is very appealing for my likes. I don't want saddlebags on my bike either.
I guess the main reason I've not bought the rack as of yet is because it seems kina pricey especially with quick release mount... My backpack was under 20 bucks from wal-fart
