I just purchased a couple of new seats for my ride as I hated the stock solo seat. The stock seat looks good, but sucks in terms of comfort. I bought a sundowner for 2-up riding and like that one a lot and I also just purchased a mustang solo vintage and it is great. I'm with you in that I think it looks a bit big, but just so you know, mustang makes both a 14.5 inch wide vintage solo and a 12.5 inch wide. I got the 12.5 and it looks pretty good. Also, at the mustang website the seat is $219. You can get the same seat from denniskirk for $158. Here is the link if you are interested:
I have a Mustang with drivers backrest great seat. I think it raised me up about 1 1/2" so I had to go from 12 1/2" shocks to 11 1/2" but it was worth it...
A bit of a stiff seat and there is nothing that keeps your butt from sliding back when you throttle hard off a stop.
I LOVE IT!
very nice bike - been looking for good pics of the hollywood on bike. i know that comfort is relative, but about how long can you ride on that seat before it starts getting uncomfortable? does it let you scoot back towards the back of the bike (other than when you romp on it that is) if i could use the front of the back fender as my backrest i would be happy. i'm 6'4" so i don't want to be sitting any higher than i have to and as far back as i can. bmorebhoy's danny gray wouldn't work b/c it has the back rest that would force me into intimate moments with my tank
i tried my buddy's lepera and i made it 20 miles before i started shifting around, 30-60 painful, 60-89 numb/burning, 90 - i have never been happier to reach my destination... judging by its unpoplarity i would guess the hollywood is uncomfortable but if i can make it an hour semi-comfortably i am sold - watching one on ebay right now that ends tomorrow - thanks in advance for any replies/opinions.
and yes - i have looked at as many other threads as i could find and they seem to unanimously say to get the mustang vintage but i don't want that look - somewhere in between mustang and the frame would be nice.
I have the HD solo Reach seat and love it! It looks alot like the stock Nightster seat, but comes all the way up to the tank and is about 5 times more comfortable. It's only $140.00 buck from the dealer. It does move you forward a tad and down a bit, but not too much. IMO it's the best solo seat for the money by far.
