Default Modification Question

Own a 03 1200xlh and just about finished my mods. Put in an S&S big bore kit with new pistons, carb, intake, cams, etc., etc... My question is now the engine sits so high in the frame because of the new kit that my gas tank won't sit properly. The pet **** hits the bracket that goes in between the jugs which also mounts the horn. Anyone out there ever have this problem with any engine modifications like this and please tell me what can be done.? Installing the tank is the last I have to install. Thanks and appreciate any feedback...Ray

Which Kit did you get? You can always move the petcock to the other side.

Mount your petcock so it sits the deepest it can in the tank. That has to be the problem, you wont get into big bore fitment problems till you get over 100ci. If you have a petcock that has to long a shaft on it just get a pingel and be done with it.

Just do a slight tank lift, and or move the horn to the original location on an XLH where it would sit between the front down tubes. Simple fix.

A lot of talk about lifting the tank when there should be no problem with putting the tank on. I'll still bet the petcock isn't seated deep enough. Any big bore kit under 100 inches doesn't change the height of the motor.

But we still don't know the kit he put in.

True D'at....And we don't know if he switched the tank to aftermarket or if they have the horn bracket on correctly.
