IMHO, all squirrels are brain damaged from eating lead and other toxic chemicals. It is the only explanation for their behavior.

I hit one of those little critters about 3 weeks or so ago and barely even felt it. some how he managed to get stuck under the rear fender. What a mess!

I had a buddy hit a ground hog on his scoot in a curve, put him on the blacktop real fast, but he was ok. Lots of people here hit deer, the results are not so good when that happens.

I live out in the counrty and have frickin animals everywhere. Name the animal I have probably almost hit it. I have ran over a rabbit on the bike. Felt like hitting a bump in the road. I just kept on going. I learned from a buddies mistake. Don't hit the brakes on small animals just run them over if the get in your way. He went down. I don't hit the brakes( In case it gets under the tire like my buddy did) and I don't swerve either. No i'm not a dick just not going down because of some small animal decided to play chicken with a 900lb harley and it's fat azz operator.

A friend of mine's Dad (living in Michigan) once said, "If you can eat the critter in one sitting, just hit it." Never swerve to avoid small critters, even driving a cage. On a bike you'll likely go down and in a cage hit a tree or something.

Last week, one of the guys here at Sea-Tac put his scooter down, trying to avoid one. Tree Rats are the reason motorcycles & pellet guns were invented...! Just hold your line (and maybe roll-on a little throttle!)
