" I posted this earlier under the tech forum but i didn't get any responses so i thought i would post it here."
Well i want to change my own oil on my 09 Nightster. I purchased a new filter and oil from the harley dealer today. when i get off of work tonight i would like to get started changing it so i can ride it tomorrow. all i need to know is where the drain plug or hose is at. if there is already posts about this please let me know sorry if i am asking a dumb question.
Well, I'm sure there are posts on this.. but look under the bike, just behind the motor and you'll see a rubber hose with a plastic plug held in by a hose clamp. This it the drain hose. Loosen the clamp and pull the plug. Let oil drain, replace plug, change filter and before screwing filter on pour 4 oz of oil in filter. then pour the remaining 3 quarts of oil into the oil resevoir. Should about do it. I do recommend you spend the $$ and purchase the service manual. Very good info there for the do it yourselfer.
thank you very much and i plan on getting the service manual. i saw the hose you were talking about but i wasn't sure. do you have any info about changing the primary fluid
